This Pattern is written in multiples of 8 plus 2, so it will end OPPOSITE of how it starts.

Pattern Description

The basket weave pattern is a 8 repeat row pattern made up of 4 front post double crochet stitches and 4 back post double crochet stitches.

After you work 4 rows you will flip the pattern to work another 4 rows, the first flip is what makes the basket weave stitch pattern begin to stand out.

Use the easy tutorial guide with photos below to learn how to crochet this beautiful textured stitch.

This Basketweave stitch pattern is written in US terms.

In theYouTube VideoI am making myAnti-Fatigue Rugmade with Lion Brand Lazy Days. For that pattern in that tutorial I use a multiple of 8 plus 6, this patten is written in a multiple of 8 plus 2. The reason for that is explained and showed visually in the video tutorial in more depth.

The basketweave crochet stitch has become has become one of my favorite patterns and looks amazing in every type of yarn I have used so far!

The total number of stitches does not change row to row.

This stitch would make a great crochet basket weave blanket, especially since the textured fabric on front of the blanket will match the back.

To make this pattern design in any size scarf make a swatch with your chosen yarn weight and hook size. Then measure and weigh your swatch to calculate the size of your project.

Basketweave Photo Tutorial

These photos are showing how the basket weave is worked over a multiple of 8 plus 6.

This swatch shows the basketweave crochet stitch set up so that you start and end with the same stitches.

If you look at these photos you will see that the swatch starts with 4 FPdc and ends with 4 FPdc so that it is symmetrical with the exception of the STsc and hdc at the start and end of every row. Those stitches work as an anchor to create a more clean and straight edge.

The scarf pattern above starts with 4 FPdc and ends with 4 BPdc again with the exception of the STsc and hdc at the beginning and end.

Please use these row by row photos below to help you visualize the basketweave crochet stitch.
