If you enjoy these, I suggest pairing them with these Air Fryer Chicken Tenders or Air Fryer Hamburgers.

Tips for Making Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries:

It’s best to space these out well to allow them to cook evenly, which means you will likely need to do multiple batches unless you have that great new Ninja Foodi Double Air Fryer!

It’s also a must to turn these halfway through the cooking time, you want them to cook evenly on both sides. I’d say you should be able to fit about 1 sweet potato at a time into the air fryer depending on the size of yours in an even row.

Another quick tip, if you want to keep them warm in between batches, place them on a sheet pan as soon as they come out of the air fryer and into the oven at 220*F, this just keeps them warm while the other batches are cooking.

What do you need for Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries?

  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Paprika
  • Garlic Powder
  • Parsley to Garnish

I also find it’s a good idea to keep a bottle of olive oil cooking spray handy when using an air fryer. It helps provide some oil to keep the fries moist.

Do you need to peel the sweet potatoes for sweet potato fries?

Peeling the sweet potatoes will be up to you and your personal preference. I prefer to leave the skin on but if you prefer to peel them, it works just as well.

When slicing them, you can slice them about 1/4-1/2 inch thick, remember they do shrink down just a bit in the air fryer too. Keep that in mind when slicing.

Can you make these in a Ninja Foodi?

Mine were on the softer side, needed a little crisp. Maybe longer time and less temperature?
    The flavor was great though.

I’d add time to it if you want them crispier.

It’s possible depending on the size of the air fryer, but I have not done it yet. If they are cooked chicken tenders then you could probably easily warm those up with the fries.

Hate to hear that, it does take some time to get used to using an air fryer, once you do though it’s worth it.

Don’t rely on the suggested time.

What I do is set it for 5 minutes before the suggested time.
    That way,they won’t be quite cooked,give them a turn,and finish them,paying attention..

    You won’t burn it again..

I use it regularly without issue; however, you want it to be a spray. It’s best to use the grapeseed oil spray, so if olive oil is an issue use grapeseed oil. This is because grapeseed oil spray has a higher smoke point than olive oil spray. I haven’t had any issues though with either one. I do not use a lot though either.

I should have noted my sauce recipe came from a different source! It consists of equal parts mayo and Dijon mustard with a few tablespoons of maple syrup!

These look delicious. Any tips re. time and temp when air frying frozen sweet potato fries? Is it the same as frozen French fries? And how about frozen chicken nuggets, raw or pre-cooked? I am a novice with a lot of questions that might be too simple or obvious for you to answer on your wonderful website. I am new to your site as well as using the air fryer. Do you have a list of times and temps anywhere that I missed? Thanks for your reply.

When I do frozen sweet potato fries, I usually do 390*F for 15-18 minutes, check on them around 15 minutes. Same with frozen french fries. Chicken Nuggets, I’d do them pre-cooked at 390*F for about 4-8 minutes and then with the raw ones, here is a recipe for those – https://airfryerfanatics.com/air-fryer-popcorn-chicken-gluten-free/

I’m confused. If you have to heat the oven to keep the sweet potatoes warm while the other batches cook surely you could turn it up and cook the whole lot in one go? What am I missing?

You don’t have to heat the oven and keep the others warm, it’s totally up to you but doing these in the air fryer gets them crispy like they would in a fryer versus being similar to a baked potato in the oven. My family is usually eating them right out of the air fryer so they never even make it to the oven to keep warm. 🙂

I made them in my Ninja Foodi Deluxe Multi Cooker. They tasted great, but were kind of soggy. If I cooked them longer they just turned brown and bubbly but never got crispy. I was careful to allow space between the fries. This is my experience with the mulit cooker. Air crisp really doesn’t crisp much. I gave them 4 out of 5 stars just because they didn’t get crispy.
