It was so relaxing and fun to make! It’s one of those crochet projects that you can pick up and put down numerous times and still know what to do afterwards. Plus, the stripes keep it fun.

How to Crochet a Chunky Chevron Blanket
For this crochet chevron blanket pattern, you will be using only chains and cluster stitches. The cluster stitches are made up of 3 double crochet stitches.
You’ll start by first working your foundation row (row 1) of cluster stitches, and then you’ll work your second row of cluster stitches. In the pattern, I note when you’ve created a valley and when you’ve created a peak. I thought it would be best to mention it because I find it makes it easier to understand when making a chevron-style blanket.
If the pattern looks a little difficult, I promise you it’s not, I just included some extra wordage to make it as easy as possible to follow. So once you’ve completed your second row, then all you have to do is just repeat row 2.
That’s it! So now let’s talk real quick about how to change the size and the type of yarn I used for this crochet chevron blanket pattern.
How to Change the Size of Your Chevron Crochet Blanket
So you can easily change the size of this blanket to make it smaller or bigger by following the multiple, which is 25 + 3. Thus, to change the width of the blanket, add or take away multiples of 25. To change the length of the blanket, simply add or take away rows.
Just remember that if you’re going to make it bigger you have enough yarn to work with.

I used Lion Brand Re-Spun yarn for this crochet chevron blanket. Lion Brand Re-spun yarn is made from 100% recycled polyester. It’s a super bulky-weight yarn that’s really soft and easy to work with.

Row 1: Place a cluster into the 6th ch from your hook. Skip 2 ch, and work a cluster into the next ch. Skip 2 ch, and work a cluster into the next chain. Skip 2 ch, and work a cluster into the next ch. (you should have a total of 4 clusters going up)
Ch 2, and work a cluster into the next ch. (this creates your peak)
Skip 2 ch, and work a cluster into the next ch. Skip 2 ch, and work a cluster into the next ch. Skip 2 ch, and work a cluster into the next ch. (you should have 4 clusters going down)
Then skip 5 ch (this creates your valley), and work a cluster in the following ch.
Now you’re going to repeat this sequence. Continue by following the repeat down below until you have 3 ch left.
*Skip 2 ch, and work a cluster into the next ch (3 times). Ch 2, and work a cluster into the next ch (peak). Skip 2 ch, and work a cluster into the next ch (3 times). Then skip 5 ch, and work a cluster in the following ch (valley). Repeat from * till you have 3 ch remaining. Skip 2 ch, and work a dc in the last ch.
